Our Process

We take a three-step approach to helping you resolve your tax situation:

1. Analyze your situation so we understand your tax problem and your circumstances;
2. Recommend  and discuss resolution options with you that we think best meet your needs, and
3. Implement the application process for the solution you’ve chosen.

With our process, some tax issues can be resolved quickly in a matter of days, but others involving large liabilities and more complex resolution options, such as an Offer in Compromise, will most likely take months of preparation and negotiation to complete.

Complex Tax Situations – Our Process

For more complex tax situations and resolution options, we generally follow these steps:

1. Make sure client has filed all past year’s tax returns so we know the true total tax liabilities.  The IRS will not even talk to you, or us, until you’ve filed all necessary previous years’ returns.  (We offer tax return preparation for previous years if you need it.)
2. Collect relevant information from the client and the IRS so that we have a true picture of the tax problem and the client’s circumstances.
3. Analyze the data collected in previous step, prepare appropriate supporting schedules, and provide a written report with recommended resolution options appropriate to the needs of the client and consistent with federal and state regulations.
4. Discuss options with client so they can choose solution they think is best for them.
5. Based on the client’s selected resolution option, collect the additional supporting documentation as needed, prepare supporting schedules, and create a package of materials for submission to the appropriate taxing authorities.
6. Present client’s case and package of materials to the appropriate tax officials and negotiate an outcome that is in the best interests of the client.
7. Inform client of outcome and advise them about what they must do next to finalize the resolution.
